A Global Engagement Seminar (GES) is an intensive, credit-bearing summer seminar taught by a team of Smith faculty offered at an international site. The seminar is followed by a required internship or service-learning experience related to the seminar and is considered part of the work for the seminar. Professors Justin Cammy and Ibtissam Bouachrine will lead the GES “Jerusalem.” Professors María Estela Harretche and Ellen W. Kaplan will lead the GES “Federico García Lorca, Hidden and Revealed: An Itinerary of Life” in Spain. High intermediate Spanish proficiency is required for the GES seminar in Spain.
