Clubs & Organizations

At Smith, you will be living in a diverse community in which people of many faiths and beliefs pursue their common quest for meaning. There are student organizations devoted to exploring and sharing your cultural heritage as well as your academic and social interests.

Many women join groups for mutual support and ongoing dialogue about their cultural heritage. These groups include:

  • Asian Students Association
  • Black Students Alliance
  • Chinese Inter-regional Student Cultural Organization
  • Ekta (for students of South Asian heritage)
  • Indigenous Smith Students and Allies
  • International Students Organizations
  • Korean American Students of Smith
  • Multiethnic Interracial Smith College
  • Nosotras (for students of Latina heritage)
  • Smith African and Caribbean Students Association
  • Vietnamese Students Association

Unity, the umbrella organization for the student-run cultural groups, also serves as a support network for students. Unity organizations host an assortment of cross-cultural activities at Unity House and Mwangi Cultural Center. Recent events have included a Celebration of Unity, Fire and Spice, Café Afrique and SC Karaoke. At Unity House, the Mwangi Center, and the Resource Center for Sexuality and Gender, you and your friends can study and relax.

Many students participate in clubs such as the National Society of Black Engineers and the Smith Association of Class Activists. You may also meet your peers at dinners for students of color, hosted by the Office of Admission.
