    Experience the artist's extraordinary optical lens boxes and stone pictures in the exhibition Mary Bauermeister: The New York Decade, and join us for a day of artistic expression and reflection inspired by the experimental use of found and natural objects in her assemblages!

    A sampling of activities include:

    • Zentangles
      • Try your hand at drawing Zentangles inspired by the artist’s calligraphic scribblings
    • Pebble Meditation
      • Museums can be a place to reflect and find your calm place. Using pebbles like those in Bauermeister’s stone pictures, practice Mindful Meditation for all ages with Ryūmon H. Baldoquín, sensei, Soto Zen Buddhist priest and Dharma teacher, community religious adviser with Smith’s Center for Religious and Spiritual Life, and co-founder of Two Streams Zen. 
    • Opti-Art
      • Explore how lenses distort and magnify by creating your own eye-popping optical art using paint and glass gems.
