Charlotte Stanley, Smith class of 2010

This is my favorite piece in Smith's collection.  Besides being a vivid reminder of the beautiful woodland trails branching out from our Olmsted-designed campus, it is the perfect piece to reflect on.  It's full of tiny surprises that captivate your eye and imagination.  Is this a real place?  A utopia dreamt up by the artist?  Can you find the bird's nest?  All of the snails?  My mind goes back to this painting often, even though I graduated several years ago.  I hope it brings you the same sense of delight.
