GRADUATE STUDENT PROFILES
Amie Dowling, 1998
"Smith gave me a balance of guidance and freedom. The Smith dance faculty and the Five College dance faculty supported my interests, provided resources and modeled how to be artists and scholars in academia."
Amie Dowling is currently an assistant professor in the Performing Arts and Social Justice Department at the University of San Francisco (USF) and Artist in Residence in the San Francisco Jails. Annually, through USF, she leads a group of dancers in teaching curriculum through movement at Miguel Pro, an elementary school in Tacna, Peru. In summer 2009 Amie received funding to work along the boarder of Germany and Poland with dancers and community members on the creation of a theater/dance piece based on migration.
