GRADUATE STUDENT PROFILES
Pamela Vail, 1994
"I reveled in having time to focus on and immerse myself in studying all aspects of dance in the MFA program. I appreciated having access to all five colleges in the classes I took, the classes I taught, and the choreographers with whom I worked. I felt that I was able to really investigate and shape my voice as a choreographer. I also learned a great deal by being able to teach through the MFA program--I value that experience greatly. In general, I was given a lot of freedom and pushed to be independent; there was guidance and support from the faculty, but no hand-holding. That was important for my growth."
Pamela Vail is currently in her seventh year teaching at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA, as an artist in residence and instructor in dance. She teaches courses in modern technique, ballet, improvisation, choreography, kinesiology and videodance, among others. In addition, Pamela continues to show her own choreography nationally and internationally, as well dance professionally with Yanira Castro, the Architects, and others. She is currently dancing in projects with Terry Creach (first female member of an historically all-male dance company) and Heidi Henderson.
