Engineering and the Liberal Arts

There are two paths for the study of engineering at Smith College, both of which are based on rigorous plans of study integrated with the liberal arts and sciences.

Bachelor of Science in Engineering Science

Accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET (111 Market Place, Suite 1050, Baltimore, MD, 2012).

The degree of bachelor of science in engineering science (B.S.) is offered for those women who intend to practice professionally as engineers.

Bachelor of Arts in Engineering Arts

The nonaccredited degree of bachelor of arts in engineering arts (A.B.) is for women who do not intend to practice as engineers, but recognize the increasing importance of science and technology in today's world.

The Minor in Engineering

Some students may wish to minor in engineering to complement their major and supplement their education.
