Smith College Executive Education and Univision Team-Up To Prepare Next Generation of Media Women Leaders
Northampton, Massachusetts and Miami, Florida – AUGUST 21, 2013 - Smith College Executive Education for Women and Univision Communications Inc.’s Women’s Leadership Council are partnering to deliver a multi-module leadership development program starting this week for talented women at the leading media company serving Hispanic America. The program, titled Leverage. Influence. Lead., is being sponsored by the Univision Academy as part of the Miami Chapter of Univision’s Women’s Leadership Council, a company-wide employee resource group that was launched in March 2013 to help advance women at Univision.
Univision’s Women’s Leadership Council is committed to actively contributing to the professional growth and development of women at Univision with a particular focus on Development, Advancement, Recruitment and Community Service. “At Univision we are firmly focused on enhancing the performance and development of our people and in this case, harnessing the talent of Univision women,” said Tonia O’Connor, president of Content Distribution and Corporate Business Development, and co-head of the Steering Committee for Univision’s Women’s Leadership Council. “We look forward to working with Smith College Executive Education to help prepare the next generation of women leaders.”

A highly selective leadership program, the Univision Academy will gather some of Univision’s top, Miami-based female talent, including programming managers, producers, news anchors and correspondents. Taught by business-school faculty and leadership experts, the curriculum, designed collaboratively by Smith and the Academy, will focus on the development of leadership skills, including in areas that might be uniquely challenging to female leaders. Women participating in the program will also learn from Univision executives about the Company’s strategies and goals.
