The Office for International Students and Scholars enhances and supports the educational, cultural and social dimension of international education at Smith College. We promote a diverse learning environment, support essential services and programs and assist international students in meeting their educational and career goals.

Come to our ISSO open office hours, held every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 2-4pm on a first-come, first-served basis. If you cannot make it during those hours, feel free to contact the office to make an appointment at interstu@smith.edu

Hello International First-years! We are extremely happy that you have joined our community this Fall. We hope that ISP was helpful and valuable experience for you.

IS DAY - submit your recipe

This year's IS Day will be on Monday, November 2nd, 11am - 1:30pm in the Carroll Room, 2nd floor in the CC.

Cooking will happen in Morrow/Wilson on October 31st and November 1st. You will be assigned a two hour window once all recipes are submitted.

Please email recipes to interstu@smith.edu and iso@smith.edu by October 13th. You can find the IS Day submission form below.

Winter clothes closet

If you are from a warmer place than here, you may be noticing how cold it's becoming outside. This is just the beginning, so it is a time to start preparing. We are cleaning out our closets. On Friday, October 30th at the Lewis Global Studies Center we will have donated winter cloths available to be collected. Everything is FREE! Stop by to find some warm clothes that has been left behind by former intrnational students.

Do you have any gently used winter wear that you do not need? Drop it off at the Lewis Global Studies Center and help out a fellow smithie.

Do you have information you want to share with fellow international students? Any announcements, event that you would like people to know about? In case you do, feel free to contact ISSO and submit material to be included in the Newsletter. It os envisioned as a common space for all international students, so let's shape it together.

Smith By Smithies is a blog powered by current Smith students touching upon all aspects of life at Smith. Among other things, you can see how student rooms look like, learn about clubs and extracurriculars or explore Smith traditions.

Social security number

Got a job and no SSN?

Step 1: Download an Employment Evidence Form and have your supervisor fill it out.

Step 2: Come into ISSO with your form, and we will write you a letter and give you more information.

Did not receive your tax return yet? Don't panic! You can go to www.irs.gov/Refunds to track your refund and get information about any steps that you have to take. Additionally, you can try calling IRS or using Help function of Glacier Tax Prep (GTP) to find out what is causing the delay.
