Who We Are

The Friends of the Smith College Libraries is a non-profit organization that supports the valuable work of the Libraries that lie at the heart of intellectual life at Smith. We are a network of mostly Smith alumnae — along with some wonderfully supportive parents, faculty and others who wish to strengthen Smith educational resources. We have members from all over the U.S. and the world (even Mongolia) with representation of Smith classes dating all the way back to 1936!  Find out a little bit more about who we are here.

What We Do

For over 70 years, the Friends of the Smith College Libraries have worked to develop these essential academic resources. We have funded thousands of new books, and helped preserve old and valuable ones. We provide new furnishings (most recently by funding a group study nook in Neilson) and funded digitization projects to make primary resources available online. And we have sponsored a vast number of programs by acclaimed academics, novelists, journalists and memoirists. Read more about our many long-term initiatives.
