A feisty Virginia Woolf and her younger brother
Adrian play cricket in this picture as their parents watch from
the porch at Talland House. In his memoir, Leslie Stephen says,
“we made what we called a ‘lawn tennis’ ground
on the most level bit, where the children delighted in playing
small cricket every evening.”
