In addition, Kelly has created two student oral history projects, An Activist Life and Documenting Lesbian Lives, now archived at the SSC. With the help of interns from the Archives Concentration, Kelly has documented Smith College history though the Alumnae Oral History Project. She conducts trainings in oral history for the Smith College community as well as for activists, and is currently working on an oral history project about the Smith School for Social Work.

Kelly is also a member of the faculty for the Program for the Study of Women and Gender. Her courses are rooted in primary research at the SSC and in oral history methods. She serves on the advisory committees for the Archives Concentration and the Resource Center for Gender and Sexuality and is a member of the Berkshire Conference of Women Historians and Groundswell, a network of oral historians for social change.
