Margy has worked in the Sophia Smith Collection and College Archives in various capacities for over 20 years. In her previous role as Digital Resources Archivist she oversaw the SSC's electronic description operations, did website design and maintainance, maintained collection management databases, and collaborated on digital projects to increase online access to Special Collections holdings. From 1997 to 2000 she was the Project Archivist for "Agents of Social Change: Providing Access to Key Twentieth Century Women's Manuscript Collections," an NEH-funded processing project. Before that she was Assistant Archivist for the Sophia Smith Collection and the Smith College Archives.
Before coming to Smith College Margy worked at the circulation desk at the Jones Library in Amherst for five years and was a cataloging assistant at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst Library. In 1992 she earned her Master's degree in Library and Information Science with a concentration in Archival Administration from Simmons College, Boston. She has a B.A. in History from UMass-Amherst and did undergraduate work in Women's Studies at Antioch College, Yellow Springs, OH. She is a member of the Society of American Archivists and New England Archivists.
