Senior Spotlights

From now until Commencement, we’re highlighting remarkable members of the class of 2024 and the incredible experiences they’ve had at Smith.

Lia Jacobs

Environmental Science & Policy major

“Last year, the fencing team traveled to Indiana on a 17-hour train ride for our club’s nationals tournament. On our first night, we got a tornado warning and the 12 of us had to huddle in the kitchen because our Airbnb had no basement. Despite getting little sleep due to our travel and tornado experience, we got fourth place overall! It was a really fun experience and brought me a lot closer to my teammates.”

Elizabeth Peters

Latin American & Latino/a Studies and History double major

“In Wilson we have a beautiful living room, but my favorite part would have to be the smaller living room tucked in the corner. It’s the perfect place to read a book or watch a movie because it’s so cozy and the best place to run into your friends. I can’t tell you how many times I went to go get my laundry and ended up watching whatever movie had been put on, leaving my laundry completely forgotten about.”

Cloud Osmond

Art History major; Museums concentrator

“Concentrations allow students to be able to explore new fields and try some new classes and different work experiences. Mine complements my major really well, as I want to work in a museum. It became an opportunity to learn not only about the museum fields, but also allowed me to be involved with other fields such as publishing, archives, and libraries.”

Jaden Gerard

Government major

“Make friends, take risks, and talk to your professors. If there is a research project or internship you want to pursue, do it! But first, consult friends and professors—they will provide crucial support in accomplishing your goals.”
