Annual Appeal
Each year the PTO Development Committee organizes the Annual Appeal which raises funds for enrichment and financial aid at the Campus School. The funds raised through the Annual Appeal are often what allow us to go beyond the basics and provide materials and experiences that further enrich and extend the students' education and make a wider range of professional development available to teachers. Funds raised through the Annual Appeal continue to be important to our efforts to make the Campus School available to a broader range of families. While the PTO supports the School in numerous ways, the Annual Appeal is the only PTO fund raising effort that directly supports enrichment and financial aid.

2013-2014 Annual Appeal

December 2013

Dear Friends,

Since 1926, the Smith College Campus School has fulfilled its mission to foster a lifelong love of learning and to provide an exemplary education for elementary school students. This is achieved through the dedication of professional faculty, eager students, and the generous support of parents and the broader community.

As parents, we choose to send our children to SCCS because of the rich curriculum, stimulating faculty, and vibrant community. While tuition and fees provide the resources for the basic program at the Campus School, many of the experiences your children have that go beyond the basics are supported by the Annual Fund. Parent gifts to the Annual Appeal are critical to the Smith College Campus School’s success.

The Annual Appeal supports financial aid, classroom enrichment, and professional development for teachers. Your gift provides critical dollars for families for whom meeting the costs of a Campus School education is a challenge, as well as funds for inspiring field trips, prominent guests, and enhanced classroom resources for our teachers and students.

This year, our goal is to raise at least $15,000 through the Annual Appeal. Every gift, no matter the size, helps us sustain our commitment to continuing the unique education envisioned almost a century ago. Your gift supports priorities that are essential to the quality of teaching and learning at the Campus School. Together, we can make a real difference, but we need every one of us to participate. Please take a moment now to go online (follow the directions for Online Giving on this page) or fill out the form you received by mail to make your tax-deductible gift.

The collective support of the Annual Appeal from parents, teachers, staff, grandparents, and friends, helps our school remain one of the finest schools in the region. Your support is sincerely appreciated and ensures the long-term growth and health of the school.

Thank you for joining us in supporting the Campus School through the Annual Appeal today.

With gratitude for your support and best wishes for the holiday season,

P.S. Please consider making your gift in honor of a teacher or staff member who makes a difference to your student—it’s a great way to say thank-you to someone for all they do at SCCS!

First Graders study insects
News & Notices:
Open House on SATURDAY, JANUARY 24th, 9:30 am - 11:00 am for prospective kindergarten through sixth grade students and their families. For more information - click here

INSECTS AS ENGINEERS:
Our first graders are studying how insect adaptations solve problems within the environment. Insects must build colonies, cut leaves, haul materials, and defend themselves from predators. Our budding scientists study how insect bodies resemble the meshing parts of simple machines in order to fly like mosquitos, zip across water like a water strider, tunnel like ants, and cut, carry and chew vegetation. In addition, they are studying the insect drawings of the German artist Maria Sybell Merian and then studying insects and creating their own sketches. Click here for more.
