Staff Art Exhibition Extended Through June 15

'Creative Colleagues: An Exhibition by Smith College Libraries Staff' is in honor of Mimi Lempart's retirement. The exhibit includes watercolors, photographs, poetry, videos, knitting, quilting, pottery, and more, all by members of the Smith College Libraries staff. Many of the items on display are the result of collaborations among work colleagues. Read more at http://www.smith.edu/news/creative-colleagues-collaborate-on-art/.

This year, more than 200 staff members voted to elect 10 colleagues to the Smith College Staff Council. Thanks to all who voted!

May "Where am I?" Contest

Can you identify this spot (photo, left) on the Smith campus? Let us know at chronicle@smith.edu. We'll reveal the answer and a winner (chosen at random from all correct responses) right here on the Staff Council bulletin board by June 15.

QUESTION: Whom do I call if maintenance outside a building is needed?

Outdoor plant issues: Jay Girard, Landscape Manager, jgirard@smith.edu Grass/infrastructure: Bob Dombkowski, Grounds Section Supervisor, bdombkow@smith.edu

QUESTION: Is there a Smith staff discount for Enterprise?

YES! The online code is: L480303. If the code does not work, you can call Enterprise directly, tell them you are a Smith College employee, and the discount will be applied.

QUESTION: Where is the discount page for Smith employees?

We are currently in discussions regarding who should maintain the list of discounts available for Smith employees (Human Resources or Staff Council) and hope to have this resolved by the end of the summer. Since the site had not been updated in several years and many businesses listed no longer existed, the decision was made to take down the page.

"Where am I?" March Answer Revealed

Thanks to everyone who participated in our first "Where am I?" contest of the spring. Congratulations to Nicole Sibley of the Smith Fund, who correctly guessed that the foot in our photo belonged to the Man in Abstract Suit sculpture in the Smith College Museum of Art atrium.

Stay tuned: We'll be posting another "Where am I?" photo later this week. Send in an answer and you'll have a chance to win a prize from Staff Council.

"To do what you love and get an award for it is the tops!"

Reese Julian, Circulation Manager at Neilson Library and 2014 Gavel Award recipient.
