Ethan Myers

Summer Precollege Programs Creative Writing Instructor

Ethan Myers

Biography

Ethan (he/him) can’t imagine doing anything other than teaching. Currently, he works in the Writing Center at Amherst College where he is the Associate in Science Communication. He has also been a Humanities teacher at a Waldorf high school; a college instructor of literature and composition; an outdoor educator and whitewater river guide; an instructor of environmental studies and sustainability; and a drum teacher. His favorite part of working at Subway was teaching new sandwich artists how to make subs. As a writing teacher, Ethan has a special fondness for brainstorming, and is likely to use sticky notes, notecards, and whiteboards to help students generate ideas. He hopes for writers to take ownership of their compositions so that they may use writing as a site for exploration, discovery, and knowledge production. When he’s not teaching, Ethan is probably hiking the woods of Western Massachusetts with his family or tinkering with his collection of garage sale bicycles.
