Saving Rainforests with a Stethoscope: Working at the Intersection of Human and Environmental Health
July 21, 2011
Come join us for an evening with Dr. Kinari Webb. Kinari Webb founded Health In Harmony and Project ASRI in 2006 as a response to the devastation she saw in the rainforests of West Kalimantan, Indonesia. With a mission to recognize the inextricable link between human and environmental health and a focus on providing healthcare as an incentive to protect natural resources, Health In Harmony is working toward a healthy planet for all. Currently in its fifth year, Project ASRI has improved the lives of the people in the communities around Gunung Palung through increased and affordable health care, decreased logging of the park and introductions of alternative incomes sources. Challenges remain, but Dr. Webb and her team continue to work toward her original goal: Healthy forests. Healthy People. Healthy Planet. Sponsored by the Environmental Science and Policy Program
