Craft to Reduce Your Waste: Napkin Embroidery

Reusable napkins are a simple and effective way to considerably reduce our waste. Come join students from the Environmental Science and Policy Program and embroider your very own cloth napkin to store in your house cubby. Lunch and all supplies (napkins, embroidery thread, etc.) are provided on a first come first serve basis. Don't know how to embroider? Don't worry, we will teach you!

Green Fire: Aldo Leopold and a Land Ethic for our Time Aldo Leopold (author of Sand County Almanac), is widely regarded as an environmental ethicist, nature writer, and a key figure in the conservation movement. Professor Laura Lawson is the new Chair for the Landscape Architecture Department at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Lawson is the recent winner of the 2010 Great Places Book Award, as well as the College of Fine and Applied Arts Award of Excellence for Service, for her leadership of ESLARP. Lawson is a popular professor who has provided encouragement and enthusiasm to Landscape Architecture students for the past eight years.

Drawing on the latest research from anthropology to neuroscience and her own field experience, she argues that the biggest challenge to human survival isn't our dependence upon fossil fuels, melting glaciers, or other calamities. Rather its our faulty way of thinking about these environmental crises.
