Outdoor Gardening Classroom

Get your hands dirty and celebrate spring! Come with your gardening questions to UMass Permaculture Franklin Garden (in front of Franklin Dining Common). Various stations with demonstrations and interactive workshops on compost, seeding and transplanting, sheet mulching and more! All ages welcome. Co-sponsored by Grow Food Amherst and the UMass Permaculture Intiative.

Co-op Power's 9th annual Sustainability Summit
May 11, 2013
Find out what activisits, thinkers, green professionals, and organizations are doing to promote justice and sustainability. Share ideas with like-minded people on topics from green business development and community finance to sustainable heating options and green energy. Figure out what resources are available going forward. The Summit will feature -Nine tracks of three workshops on themes that cover different aspects of sustainability. -Catered lunch. -An exhibitor area where attendees can connect with vendors, non-profits and activist groups. -"Transitioning to the New Economy", a facilitated session with keynote speaker, Halina Brown, of Clark University and the Sustainable Consumption Action and Research Initiative. 4-6:30 PM: Co-op Power's Annual Meeting and Potluck. Members will make decisions about cooperation and autonomy among our decentralized network of local organizing councils.
