Afternoons in the Garden: Food, Friends and Fun

Take an opportunity to relax outdoors, practice a directed hands-on activity, gather with friends and give back to the community. All are invited on Fridays, June 6 to August 15, for any length of time. If you know you will be coming, please RSVP to jliu81 at smith.edu. Snacks (including fresh-picked from the garden) and drinks will be provided.

Coral Reef Ed-Ventures Student Presentation

The Coral Reef Ed-Ventures interns have just returned from Ambergris Caye, Belize, where for the last six weeks they have organized and taught an environmental education day-camp for school children in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, and participated in field research in collaboration with Hol Chan Marine Reserve, the first marine reserve in Belize. Ambergris Caye, an island off the coast of Belize, is part of the Meso-American Barrier Reef, the second largest reef system on earth. The interns will give a presentation about their research projects and about the educational day-camp for the local children in San Pedro.

Creative Media Institute

Celebrated filmmakers Ken Burns 71F, Brett Morgen 87F, and Erica Huggins 83F are among Hampshire College alumni who will join a broad range of guest artists during four-weeks (July 13- August 9)this summer. Designed for undergraduates, emerging artists, scholars, critics, and other media professionals, the program will include screening seminars and creative labs. “The screening seminars are designed to immerse participants in deep study, with the creative labs providing space for reflection and experimentation,” Hart said.
