Centering Equity In Urban Biodiversity, Climate Justice, And Eco-Literacy
December 2, 2021
A seminar with Catherine Werner, Sustainability Director of St. Louis City. Increasingly, cities are attempting to establish more and equitable access to green spaces. Less common are efforts which ensure that green spaces provide high-quality benefits to the people in the urban core - in particular, those who are most vulnerable, such as people of color and low-income populations. As Sustainability Director for the City of St. Louis, Werner has found that centering equity in natural resource decisions can yield greater urban biodiversity, enhanced eco-literacy, and improved human health and well-being. Hosted by the Living Earth Collaborative (LEC) and Ecology, Evolution, and Population Biology (EEPB) at Washington University in St. Louis, the seminar will be live-streamed on YouTube.
