Whales, dolphins and biodiversity: how protecting marine mammals helps drive conservation
June 4, 2024
Marine mammals are exposed to several threats, such as underwater noise, bycatch, and collisions with vessels. They move and migrate across seas, which means we need to protect vast marine areas to secure their future. As a result, and given their enduring popularity with the public, species like whales and dolphins have become a crucial driver in conservation efforts. The panel will discuss their experiences and share insights into how fighting for marine mammals can translate into a healthier ecosystem and ultimately thriving seas. This session is part of the ClientEarth Summit 2024.
