Women’s long haul to ski jump |

In 2005, Gian-Franco Kasper, president of the International Ski Federation, declared, “Ski jumping seems not to be appropriate for the ladies from a medical point of view.” It was one in a long litany of sports considered unfit for women, including basketball. When basketball was introduced at Smith in 1892, women were not considered “robust” enough to play full court.
