Removing Malware & Spyware
Programs such as spyware and malware are typically installed on window machines without your knowledge. They gather and transfer information about you to advertisers and other interested parties. This usually happens when you access certain web sites or download programs. As these programs gather their information they also slow down your computer, increase the amount of unwanted pop-up windows, and cause your browser to open to a different web site (called "hijacking").
The IT Service Center recommends a CCleaner and Malwarebytes AntiMalware to help you detect and remove spyware and malware from your computer. These programs are availalbe on the Smith software download page.
