Leslie Stephen withdrew from society and became
more of a recluse after the death of his wife and mother in 1875.
“I am, I think, one of the most easily bored of mankind;
I cannot bear long sittings with dull people and even when alone
in my family I am sometimes as restless as a hyena.” Stephen
is seen here with his collie Troy.
