Lecture by Hannah Pollin-Galay, author of Occupied Words:  What the Holocaust did to Yiddish (2024, University of Pennsylvania Press).  Dr. Pollin-Galay will discuss how the Yiddish language and its speakers responded to experiences of war, ghettoization, deportation, and mass murder between 1939 and 1945.  Of special value to students in The Holocaust (History 287 = Jewish Studies 287), but open to all students and the public.
