THE BASICS:
What do you do at Smith?
As associate director
of admission, I plan on-campus events, recruit future Smithies
and read applications from prospective students. As Chair
of the Activities Committee of Staff Council, I work with
a great committee to coordinate fun and educational events
for staff.
How many years have you been at the college?
8+
What is your busy season?
January 2 to December
15 or so.
NOW THE FUN STUFF:
Who gets the most face
time with you?
Folks in admission at Smith and my family.
What are you reading
now?
Applications to Smith
College.
What is your favorite
movie?
Christmas
Vacation,
Office Space and Only You.
If you suddenly had two
hours of free time, what would you do?
Probably waste it trying
to decide what to do or read Cook's
Illustrated or Real Simple while reclined on the sofa!
What is your favorite
wall hanging at home?
A picture I bought
at the Staff Council Mardi Gras auction last February of
Paradise Pond and the Tea Hut at Smith.
Do you vote?
Absolutely.
If you could live during any period in time and in any place
-- when
and where?
I strive to live in
the present.
Who does the work around your abode?
Mostly my husband,
Adam. I am spoiled and so thankful. I
pitch in
where I can but our work schedules are such that it's frequently
easier
for him to cook dinner, do house upkeep projects, etc. We
tackle
grocery shopping, laundry, housecleaning and chasing our
son around
together on the weekends.
Is there any time in your life you wish you could do over?
Not really. All
of my life experiences have made me who I am today and
while there were some times that weren't so fun, they made
me stronger.
What did you do before you came to Smith?
I worked for a corporate staffing firm, taught, worked in
admission
elsewhere and was a nanny.
What single piece of
advice would you give to graduating Smithies?
Be involved in whatever
community you land in next -- new city/town, new
campus, job site. Getting to know a wide range of people
around you
will be rewarding and invaluable in your life. It might
take a little
extra effort but it's worth it! |
