Smith College to Present Memorial Program Feb. 24
for Long-Time Faculty Member Vernon Gotwals

NORTHAMPTON, Mass.-The Smith College Music Department will present a program of music, recollections and readings in memory of long-time faculty member Vernon Gotwals at 3 p.m., on Sunday, Feb. 24, in Sweeney Concert Hall, Sage Hall. A reception will follow in the Smith College Club. The event is free and open to the public.


Professor of music and college organist at Smith from 1952 until his retirement in 1984, Gotwals, who passed away Jan. 12, was an active member of the college and Northampton community until he moved to Deer Isle, Maine, in 1984.
