Kosovo Teach-In at Smith
College
Faculty members from Smith College
and the University of Massachusetts will lead a teach-in on the
current crisis in Kosovo at 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, in Seelye
201. The event, titled "Reaping the Whirlwind: the Plight
of the Kosovar Refugees," is open to the public at no charge
and is wheelchair accessible.
Speakers will be Peter Rose, Sophia
Smith Professor of Sociology and Anthropology, Smith College,
who since 1980 has been studying the formulation and implementation
of American refugee resettlement policy and the politics of rescue;
Joel M. Halpern, professor emeritus of anthropology, University
of Massachusetts, author of "A Serbian Village in Historical
Perspective"; and Marjorie Senechal, Louise Wolff Kahn Professor
of Mathematics, Smith College, author of "Long Life to Your
Children! A Portrait of High Albania."
