If you had to create a synonym for the word “Smithie,” what would it be?
In my opinion, a good synonym for Smithie is: “a person who is curious, empathetic and determined to make a lasting impact in their community.”

Who gave you the best advice so far about coming to Smith and what was it?
I would definitely say my mom. Although I know Smith College is an amazing school, I am still scared of being so far away from my family. She told me that no matter what obstacles I might face it is important that I still hold my head high and voice my opinions.

“My mom told me that no matter what obstacles I might face it is important that I still hold my head high and voice my opinions.”

What area of campus are you most looking forward to exploring?
I am excited to check out the Botanic Garden! I am especially excited to see the Botanic Garden’s bulb show in the spring!

What’s a question that you wish more people would ask?
“What’s your story?” I love getting to know people, but I’m naturally a bit of an awkward person. I like open-ended questions because they help people get past the dreaded small talk and help to create stronger friendships.

If you could have any superhuman power, what would it be?
It would have to be teleportation. Just imagine being able to travel around the world whenever and wherever you wanted to—amazing!

Would you prefer to always be slightly late or always be an hour early?
I would say an hour early, but I often find myself having to set my clocks ahead because no matter how hard I try I am always late.

What year would you visit if you had a time machine?
I would go back to 1503 and spy through Leonardo da Vinci’s window while he started on his legendary painting “The Mona Lisa.”

If you could speak any language in the world fluently, what would it be?
Honestly, I wish I could speak every language! I dislike how people expect others to learn English instead of the other way around. I would love to speak many languages so that I can have conversations with people from all around the world and learn about their cultures!
