The Smith College Study Abroad Program in Hamburg, Germany, offers students the opportunity to study for a full year or for one semester (spring) in all disciplines at the University of Hamburg, the Technical University of Hamburg (Engineering School) or the University of Applied Sciences.
The city of Hamburg, situated on the Elbe River and only 40 miles from the North Sea, is one of Europe's most livable—and greenest—cities. Building on the city's strong commitment to sustainability and renewable energy the Smith program offers students a "green option" as part of their year or semester experience abroad, which includes site studies of environmental issues and excursions throughout Northern Germany.
