The results are in!In March,
we at The Grécourt
Gate invited the Smith community to submit pictures to
our photo contest, Picture Smith.
After sifting through hundreds of photographs and enjoying
many wonderful scenes captured on campus, we narrowed down
our list of finalists and chose one overall winning picture,
as well as one winner from each category: Smith Places, Smith
Faces, and Smith @ Work.
We are happy to announce
that Katie Sheffield ’07
most arrested the judges’ attention with her well-composed,
artsy photograph, which she calls “Friendly Faces in
the Quad.”
In the category of Smith
Places, Janel Glinski ’08
took first prize with her portrait of the Elliot Offner sculpture
of a heron on the Lyman Conservatory pond. In the Smith Faces
category, Miranda Mickiewicz ’10 took the prize with “Mmmm…Smith!” And
for Smith @ Work, Micaela Mroczynski ’09 took top honors
with her early morning shot of the Smith College novice crew
team plying the Connecticut River.
Each prize winner will
receive a gift from Grécourt
Bookshop, courtesy of the Office of College Relations, which
sponsored the contest.
Meanwhile, all photographs submitted for the contest will
be displayed on Photo of the Day, which features a different
picture every day. Check The Gate for daily updates about
Smith people and their activities. Better yet, make The Gate
your default home page.
Congratulations Picture Smith winners!
