Ride
Your Bike to Work Week
As
part of its ongoing interest in promoting environmental responsibility,
Smith College is among the sponsors and participants of
next week's , an annual
event coordinated by Mass Bike, Pioneer Valley chapter.
The
event features several cycling-related events, including
two at Smith, throughout the week of May 10 through 18.
The
Smith community is invited to attend a free breakfast for
bike commuters on Wednesday, May 14, from 7 to 10 a.m. on the
Northampton Court House lawn.
Also, on Monday, May 12, at 7
p.m. in Stoddard Auditorium, Smith will present a screening
of In
the Middle of the World, a film that depicts the true
story of a man who takes his wife and five children on a 2,000-mile
bicycle trip across Brazil in search of a decent job. The screening
is free and open to the public.
On
Saturday, May 10, Smith will host a talk, "Driving Your Bicycle: the Absolute Minimum You
Need to Know to Leave Your Driveway on Your Bicycle," sponsored
by the Northampton Cycling Club.
