in Holyoke opens on Sunday, Nov. 11, in the Nolen
Arts Lounge, Campus Center. An opening reception, free
and open to the public, will take place from 3 to 5 p.m.

Celebrating the History of Puerto Ricans in Holyoke explores
the history and culture of the Puerto Rican community in
the city south of Northampton through the eyes and ears of
young people there. The exhibition also displays how local
youth of Puerto Rican descendents are preserving their culture
through photos, video clips and bilingual text.
This is a traveling exhibition created collaboratively by
the Wistariahurst Museum in Holyoke, Nueva Esperanza, YouthBuild
Holyoke and community members in the Pioneer Valley. The
exhibition is supported by the Save Our History program,
which is committed to inspiring and motivating local communities
to learn about and take part in the preservation of their
heritage through projects involving artifacts, oral histories,
museums and landmarks.
The exhibition will be on display
at Smith through Nov. 26. for more information. |
