 Over the course of a year, a
committee of students, faculty and staff has been working
with a branding and design firm to develop an athletics team
name and spirit mark for Smith. Focus group discussions and
interviews with students, coaches, student-athletes, alumnae
and many others identified the qualities of Smith—and
Smithies—that an effective
spirit mark and name should evoke.
Please take a moment to
respond to an testing proposed designs and
names (among them Pioneers, the current team name, for which
a graphic design was never developed). The committee is interested
in hearing from all members of the Smith community, so that
the mark will resonate in the context of athletics and in
many other aspects of Smith life as well.
