The Jewish holiday is an annual seven-day event that celebrates the harvest. It begins Wednesday, September 26. "Sukkot is a holiday that commemorates the 40 years in which the Jews wandered the desert," notes Berns. "They slept in temporary huts, after which they built the sukkah. During the Sukkot, it is customary to eat in the sukkah, and to recite certain blessings."

The hut, which was the collaborative effort of several students, has been decorated with cornstalks and gourds from local farms. Students will gather on September 26 to eat Kosher pizza under the sukkah, an event Hillel has dubbed "Pizza in the Hut." During the remaining days of Sukkot, tables will be set in the sukkah for evening meals.
