The Smith Squash Team
was treated to an online talk last weekend by Jeanne Blasberg ’87,
the president of U.S. Squash, a nationwide organization
that supports the racquet sport.
Blasberg addressed the
team and others gathered following a squash tournament
on November 22 in Ainsworth Gym, from off-campus via a
live Internet videoconference. Spectators gathered on one
of the gym’s squash courts to see her
talk.
“Jeanne is an elite squash player herself, so she
was the perfect speaker for our event,” said Tim Bacon,
lecturer in exercise and sport studies and head coach of
Smith Squash. “One of her missions as president [of
U.S. Squash] is to support the growth of women’s squash
in the U.S.”
The Smith Squash Team
in points at this year’s
Women’s
College Squash Championship tournament. The Mount Holyoke
College team finished in first place for the second straight
year.
