Smith
College Democrats Host Governor Patrick
Last weekend, the Smith
Democrats hosted the annual College Democrats of Massachusetts
convention, with more than 125 students from across the
state. It marked the first time the statewide convention
has been held in western Massachusetts. About 50 convention
delegates joined Governor Deval Patrick on Sunday, April
18, for a conversation about why students should get involved
with the gubernatorial campaign and remain engaged in public
affairs.
On Saturday, April 17, the convention
welcomed a lineup of speakers,
including State Senator Ben Downing, State Senator Stan Rosenberg,
State Representative Ellen Story, blogger Conor Yunits, Massachusetts
Democratic Party chairman John Walsh, and candidate for State
Treasurer Steve Grossman. Breakout sessions
followed on topics ranging from grassroots organizing to
new media.
At the CDM elections, Smith
Democrats President-elect Kate Moore ’12
was unanimously elected President of the College Democrats
of Massachusetts.
