Face Time: Mary Caroline
Smith ’11
Where are you from?
Bala Cynwyd, Penn.
Did you always know you wanted to come to Smith?
No, it was not my top choice, but I ended up in
the perfect place for me.
Now the fun stuff. Who gets
the most face time with you?
My former roommate and my next-door neighbor, my
two closest friends here.
When was the last time you wore a dress?
Wednesday? Whenever it was warm enough.
What are you reading now?
The Man Without Qualities by Robert Musil, Conjure
Tales by Charles Chestnutt, and Journey into the
Whirlwind by Eugenia Ginzburg.
Do you eat fast food?
I avoid it at all costs. Maybe if I have to get
a quick bite on long car trips. Then I usually get pizza,
never McDonald's or Burger King.
What do you miss most about home?
Cuddling with my dog, and my family.
What is your favorite movie?
Toss up between Some Like it Hot and Breakfast
at Tiffany's. Grease 2 is my guilty pleasure.
If you suddenly had two hours of free time,
what would you do?
Ideally, go down to the costume shop to chat with
Jill St. Coeur or catch up on episodes of 30 Rock and The
Office. I'd probably work on some reading for a literature
class or a costume design...lying in the sun if possible.
What is your favorite wall hanging in your room?
My poster of a photo of the Plaza de Mayo in Buenos
Aires the night of the military coup of 1976, which I got
volunteering with the Madres de Plaza de Mayo while I was
abroad last semester. Also, my Ferragamo shoe poster.
Do you consider yourself an urban, suburban
or rural person?
All three.
What's your favorite thing about where you grew
up?
The trees and the old stone houses.
What annoys the heck out of you?
Whining.
Who are your role models?
My mother and my sister, my roommate, the women
I met working with the Madres. |
