Performances are Thursday through Saturday, April 1-3, at 8 p.m. each night in the Hallie Flanagan Studio Theatre, Mendenhall.

Heidi Henderson, who received her MFA from Smith College, is the artistic director of elephant JANE dance in Rhode Island, a three-time recipient of the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts Choreography Fellowship, and is an assistant professor at Connecticut College. elephant JANE dance has performed at the South Bank Centre in London, New York City, Boston, Rhode Island, Jacob's Pillow Inside/Out Festival and The International Festival of Dance in Taegu, Korea. Heidi has danced in the companies of Bebe Miller, Nina Wiener, Peter Schmitz, Sondra Loring, and Paula Josa-Jones and she has been in residence or on the faculties of Amherst College, Bates Dance Festival, Brown University, BYU, Colby College, DanceSpace Inc. in NYC, Dartmouth College, Hampshire College, The University of Massachusetts at Amherst, RIC, Roger Williams University, and NYU's Tisch Dance Summer Festival.

Henderson’s dance I am still waiting features a large ensemble cast of 12 dancers and is set to the music “beginning” by Michael Wall. She describes her dance as a “quiet piece where the dancers do not leave the floor. They shift, they sit, they wait, they…”

From among the many works by the young choreographers who audition for this production, only a handful of the best pieces are selected for inclusion by the artistic directors, Susan Kay Waltner, professor of dance and director of the MFA in Dance, and Lester Tomé, instructor of dance at Smith. The program features a variety of music and dance genres and a combination of solo performances, large ensemble pieces, and everything in between.

Seating is limited so purchase tickets early: $9 for general public, $5 for students/seniors. The Box Office (413-585-2787, boxoffice@smith.edu) is open from 1 to 4 p.m. daily, Monday through Friday, and at 7 p.m. on performance nights.
