Four
Hands on Deck
When you watch their hands flying
across the keys, it’s hard to tell which belong
to whom. Pianists Elizabeth Joy Roe, visiting artist-in-residence at Smith, and
her performing partner Greg Anderson have logged so many hours playing piano
together as a duo that they perform like one four-handed
pianist.
The Anderson & Roe Duo will
perform at Smith this Friday, Sept. 17, at 8 p.m. in Sweeney
Concert Hall, Sage, in a decidedly eclectic program featuring
their four-hand transcriptions of works by Brahms, Schumann
and Georges Bizet, but also a rendition of Radiohead’s Paranoid
Android and the romping Libertango by Astor Piazzolla,
as well as Stravinsky’s
The Rite of Spring. Admission is free.
Video footage of Anderson &
Roe was excerpted from the duo's most recent album and DVD Reimagine.
