Still
Lifes of Flowers and Shells
Wheat by Connie S. Pogue. On Sommerset paper,
2010. |
An
exhibition of works by artist Connie S. Pogue opens in the
Oresman Gallery, Hillyer, Brown Fine Arts Center, on Friday,
Sept. 3.
Pogue uses graphite, colored
pencils and kneaded erasers to create drawings of still life
arrangements under intense sunlight. The resulting images
feature strong angular shadows and rich black and white patterns
formed by light refracted through a variety of glass objects.
Pogue, who earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in art from Pittsburg State
University, has taught painting and drawing at Kansas State University, and drawing
and design at Smith.
The exhibtion will be on display
