Adas
and Recent Alumnae Invited to Apply for New Magic Grants
Although
she never attended Smith, legendary Cosmopolitan editor Helen
Gurley Brown has long felt “adopted” by the college and admires
its commitment to educating women with diverse life experiences.
Through her generosity, Ada
Comstock Scholars are eligible to apply for “magic grants” designed to transform the lives
of Adas by encouraging imagination, creativity and high aspiration.
Grants in the amount of several thousand dollars—up to $25,000—may
be appropriate and will be made for innovative projects that
Adas would otherwise be unable to pursue.
Current Adas, as
well as those who have graduated within the last two years,
are eligible to apply. Applications will be considered on
a rolling basis, beginning in February, and will be reviewed
by a committee coordinated by Dean of the College Maureen
Mahoney.
