Faculty Members Approved for Tenure and Promotion

At its meeting in February, the Smith College Board of Trustees approved tenure and promotion recommendations for 16 faculty members.

Promoted to full professor were Suzanne Gottschang, anthropology and East Asian studies; Benita Jackson, psychology; Leslie King, sociology; Courtney Lannert, physics; Gary Lehring, government; Sara Pruss, geosciences; and Julianna Tymoczko, mathematics and statistics.

Sarah Witkowski, exercise and sport studies, was awarded tenure.

Promoted to associate professor with tenure were Shannon Audley, education and child study; Lily Gurton-Wachter, English language and literature; Susan Sayre, economics; Kate Soper, music; Nessy Tania, mathematics and statistics; Camille Washington-Ottombre, environmental science and policy; and William Williams, physics.

Suk Massey was promoted to senior lecturer in Korean.

President Kathleen McCartney congratulated the faculty members on their “well deserved promotions.”
