A Message of Thanks

Dear Members of the Smith Community:

Even as many in our community continue to deal with the aftermath of this weekend’s devastating storm, I want to publicly thank our staff for the dedication shown in keeping our students safe and as comfortable as possible. With creativity and a positive spirit, you found ways to provide food without power, staff the Campus Center as an overnight gathering place, and respond to emergencies. Residence Life staff checked in on students throughout the situation, making sure needs were addressed. As soon as it was safe to do so, staff from Facilities Management and the Botanic Garden were removing fallen limbs and making walkways passable. Campus Police put in additional hours, both in responding to calls and overseeing our emergency response. At times like this, I am reminded of the extraordinary commitment that members of our community show for one another’s welfare and for the campus we all cherish. Thank you for all that you do for Smith.
