Recommended browsers for Smith web applications

Getting a new Smith computer?  Steps you need to take

Eduroam is a secure wireless network that allows registered users to connect to the Internet wirelessly at participating institutions worldwide. Eduroam is now the recommended network for all Smith students, faculty, and staff. more
Office 2013 is now the campus standard for all Smith-owned Windows computers. If you are using an older version of Office and get an alert that your license is about to expire or you would simply like to upgrade to Office 2013, click here.
Google Drive cloud-based file storage makes it easy to save, access, and share all your files on the web. more
Google Calendar users: To add the Smith academic calendar to your own Google calendar, just open Google Calendar, locate the Add a coworker's calendar field under Other Calendars, and enter: academiccalendar

Mac users: Apple is offering an optional free upgrade to OS X 10.9, also known as Mavericks. If your college-owned Mac is currently running any operating system below OS X 10.8.5, please do not install Mavericks at this time. If you decide to upgrade your personal Mac, be sure to back up your system before proceeding.

Microsoft Security Essentials is Smith's recommended tool for protection against viruses and malware. more

To access BannerWeb, log in to the Smith Portal with your network username and password, then click the appropriate tab:

  • Students: My Student Info
  • Staff: My Info
  • Faculty: My Info or Teaching & Advising

When the tab opens, click any task of interest (Registration, Class Lists, Timesheet Entry, Leave Report Entry, etc.) to go directly to that task in BannerWeb.

Over 3000 free Lynda.com online courses are available to all Smith students, faculty, and staff. To browse the available courses, log on to the Smith Portal and click the Lynda.com link on the Portal home page. If you have an Apple mobile device, try out the new Lynda.com app.
Graduated students: Click here for information about what happens to all your Smith accounts after you graduate.
