Webinar: Career Development Tips in Conservation

Wednesday, February 19 | 3–4 p.m.

Join the Society for Conservation Biology North America Student Affairs Committee for the fifth webinar in our professional development series for the 2024/25 programmatic year. Our invited speaker(s) will cover topics ranging from an overview of potential careers in conservation to how to identify and develop your strengths for different career paths. Attendees will be able to ask questions of our speaker(s) and a recording of the webinar (along with useful resources) will be available for future viewing via our YouTube site. Biodiversity Credit Market Overview

Thursday, February 27 | 2–3 p.m.

Ryan Sarsfield, Senior Advisor for Biodiversity Markets at the Environmental Policy Innovation Center (EPIC), will share an overview of the nascent biodiversity credit market, how credits are created, and why we should expect an increased demand for nature-based credits. The presentation and Q & A will include discussion of biodiversity metrics, the links between regulatory offset and voluntary markets, and the role of ecologists in ensuring the quality of methodologies and evidence-based ecological outcomes.
