THE DE GASPÉ BEAUBIEN FOUNDATION

The Women's Narratives Project began with a grant from the de Gaspé Beaubien Foundation, a family foundation based in Montreal and co-chaired by Philippe and Nan-b de Gaspé Beaubien. Mr. and Mrs. de Gaspé Beaubien also co-chair the Foundation’s key project, the Business Families Foundation, which has provided educational opportunities and support for family businesses since 1993.

Nan-b de Gaspé Beaubien ’57 is co-chair, with her husband, Philippe, of the de Gaspé Beaubien Foundation, a family foundation based in Montreal.  She incorporated her study of educational psychology into a successful career in H.R. Management and with her husband helped build their company Telemedia into one of the top multimedia companies in Canada.  She is a founder of the Canadian Broadcast Institute and has been a member of many non-profit boards, as Women in Management, as well as for profit boards as Four Seasons Hotels Inc.  She received the Canadian Centennial Medal and is a member of the Canadian Broadcasters’ Hall of Fame.  She is the instigator and supporter of the Women’s Narratives of Success Project at Smith that encourages women to reflect on their lives and careers.

Philippe de Gaspé Beaubien received his BA from the Université de Montreal in 1952 and an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1954. He pursued marketing and management and became Director of Operations for the Corporation for the 1967 World Exposition in Montreal. He later became the head of Telemedia Communications Inc.
