Face
Time: Lily Samuels ’11
Where are you from?
I hail from Cornwall, Connecticut.
What is your major?
Government.
Did you always know
you wanted to come to Smith?
No, but once I stumbled across the college, I knew
the search was over. My new intellectual home had been located.
Now the fun stuff. Who
gets the most face time with you?
My boyfriend, Mike, and his son, Jaeden.
Do you have a nickname?
Uh, Lilz? Just kidding. Lily works fine.
What are you reading
now?
Sula by Toni Morrison.
Do you eat fast food?
Not if I can help it. That said, there is nothing
like a burger from a roadside grill.
What do you miss most
about home?
The many well-loved faces.
What is your favorite
movie?
The Red Violin.
If you suddenly had
two hours of free time, what would you do?
Go for a good, long trek through the woods, preferably
coming back with muddy boots.
What is your favorite
wall hanging in your room?
An old, horribly romantic, Greek Revival-esque mirror
from the flea market.
Do you consider yourself
an urban, suburban or rural person?
I'm flexible. Put me somewhere, and I can live there.
My heart, however, belongs to the New England countryside.
What's your favorite
thing about where you grew up?
The wind racing up the side of the mountain from the
valley.
What annoys the heck
out of you?
Disingenuous behavior.
Who are your role models?
Former U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan. Smith
alum Madeleine L'Engle. My father. |
